Date: 2006-10-29 08:09 am (UTC)I just loved every sentence of this but this:
“But I do,” she whispered. She sat up and leaned forward and kissed his forehead. “Don’t be mad at Sam. He’s your kid too, like me.”
That was just...ow, and perfect and pure truth.
I was so happy to see that a new Salvation story had been posted and to get a whole long story like this. Wow and THANK YOU.

Date: 2006-10-29 10:46 am (UTC)I really like Charlie. She's a cool cat and I look forward to more stuff about her. I like how different the kids are, how they fit into this world and this family, each in her own way. I'm really glad that there was Danielle in this one. I didn't like her at first but there wasn't much to go on, in terms of her character, other than she and Dean didn't make it. Now, however, I get a better idea of who she is and the fact that she finally has an idea of what Dean really did/does, she might really be able to be with him.
The bad guy? Scared the crap out of me. Sam scared the crap out of me, yelling at Charlie and swinging with that axe. Awesome stuff.
There was an, I believe, AU to this 'verse where Dean, Sam and Sarah ending up sleeping together. Is that actually an AU or did that happen in the world that this story exists in? I've confused myself and need a bit of clarification.
Anyway, this rocked my world tonight and has sparked my desire for long, plotty fics in this AU. I hope you'll write more, 'cause I'll sure as hell read them.

Date: 2006-10-29 10:52 am (UTC)Dean felt his vision blur and didn’t believe it was Sam anyway, not even when Sam advanced and the creature backed away with a hissing sound. These were dreams of the dying - rescue did not come in the nick of time in the shape of his brother, not even in his world.
Yay for Protective!Sam. Yay for Allie and Charlie and the whole family. And yay for you.
Thank you SO much for this,
DC

Date: 2006-10-29 11:33 am (UTC)granted I tend to say things like that when I read your stuff and the salvation au's are particulary awesome--but this? holy crap, man. I love that they have that kind of plan, and I LOVE love love love seeing the legalities (that a word?) in the spn world like you did.
The angst was top notch, and Dani and Dean? yay :D much yayousness
Charlie was perfect, so were all the girls, especially Allie :) really impressed by this one! So much in one go kinda leaves you breathless so apologies if this doesn't make all that much sense

Date: 2006-10-29 01:43 pm (UTC)And thank you! I was just thinking last night that I'd really like to see a story from you, but I'd never dreamed we'd get anything like this.
What a great scary story. I mean, I knew you wouldn't kill Dean off, but man oh man you scared me.
Loved this story, and Allie and Charlie's roles in it.
And Dani's pregnant!!
Just wow!!!

Date: 2006-10-29 02:34 pm (UTC)This story had me hook line and sinker, Kripke is so your bitch is all I'm saying. You need to stop this insurance nonsense, we need to get the Kripster tie him to a chair (he might like that) and make him read your stuff. Then convince him the only writer he needs is you. Is this over the top? No!
GAH! I so want to say I want to lick this story, but that has been by go to compliment lately. You need something else. *Stop with the gushing Lemmy it's not becoming*

Thank you! And thank you for making it lovely and long :-)

Lovely lovely addition to this 'verse.

Date: 2006-10-29 05:24 pm (UTC)Especially the ending because I loved it and I always wondered just what Charlie could do with her gifts!
And Dani, at the end, hee! Wonderful story!
(although, did I miss the backstory with Dean and Dani? Because I don't remember reading how they met/married/divorced. Just the brief mentions in other stories.)

Date: 2006-10-29 10:40 pm (UTC)Dean cut and bleeding to death... and that body snatcher coming across Charlie, hiding in the van, then going after Sarah and the girls... major chills here. Allie was awesome. *g*
Sam's reaction to nearly losing his brother--trying to smash that skeleton to smithereens then melding with Dean... wow.
This time there was no middle ground, just Sam and all the things that made him Sam, with Dean as touchstone, locked in place while Sam searched him.
What an intense, amazing connection they share, one that goes beyond bone-deep. *shivers*
"Dean’s not here right now," Dean said. "Please leave a message."
Bwah!!!
And Dani's pregnant! Ohhhh. Could it be a boy this time?!
Thanks so much for including me on your f-list. Look foward to reading (I hope) many more stories from you.

Date: 2006-10-29 11:40 pm (UTC)Before I quote favorite lines, I just have to mention how much I liked the details throughout this piece, like Dean cataloguing the skeleton in his house, bone by bone, or taking in his whereabouts when he wakes after being taken to the basement; Sarah closing the office door while Dean and Sam talk shop; Christo being such an awesome guard dog when they needed it most; Charlie reverting to thumbsucking. These touches really struck me while reading. Nicely done!
Overall: A big thumbs up. Truly outstanding work here.

Date: 2006-10-29 11:48 pm (UTC)He came and went night and day and sometimes for nights and days, unless Charlie was there.
Love how you phrased that. And love Dean’s utter devotion to his daughter (not that I’d expect anything less from him.)
A skeletal hand lay just a foot from his door, outstretched toward the door itself as if asking for help. Scraps of tendon barely held some of the phalanges together, and there were dozens of tiny bones arranged with care. The attached arm had been placed to give the rest of the skeleton an attitude of desperation, of reaching out one final time and hoping someone would come.
Eew, eew, eew! Marvelously creepy description.
She reminded him that he was taken no matter how many times he reminded her he had been divorced for six years, and then she wouldn’t elaborate. She just kept giving him that nutty stare chicks often gave, the one that said you know what I’m talking about even when he didn’t. It was often followed by the one that said well if you don’t know, I’m not going to tell you! and it was just crazy.
LOL at the whole Men Are From Mars, Women are From Venus moment.
“If you’re in danger, so are we,” Sam said, voice suddenly calm, and that was much worse than the rage; Sam had descended all the way to dangerous that quickly. “If anything happens to you, Dean, it will kill us all.”
*gulps* Powerful dialogue here.
“You wouldn’t do that to Charlie.”
“But I’d do it for Charlie,” Dean said.
I love how Dean twists Sam’s statement around just enough to make his point. Oh, Dean.
people who were not an instant from choking with terror because they couldn’t find someone they couldn’t reasonably go on without.
Oh, Sam.
Not the first time he’d been left tied up and naked, but the least fun, hands down.
LOL!
She burst into tears. “You’re scaring me,” she sobbed. “Sam I want my daddy!”
He did shake her then, never feeling the tears on his own face, his desperation winning over his self loathing. “Then find him!” he said, not shouting but close, as close as he’d ever been with her or his own girls.
This just breaks my heart. *hugs them*
It was a scalpel. Dean realized then what he was in for. It was going to put him on.
Ack! *covers eyes* This is not happening, this is not happening …
The blade was so sharp that it sliced through the restraints with barely any pressure. Sam caught Dean against him and then struggled not to slip in his brother’s blood.
*whimpers* My poor boys!
When it was silent again, she lifted her head.
She was going to be in trouble over the windows, she just knew it.
I love this, because it’s so little-kid to think about something like that in this moment.
It was not waiting for them in the garage, or in the driveway when they pulled out. Sarah was almost disappointed. She would have enjoyed running it down.
I love Sarah. :)
“Somebody clocked you, though,” he said finally, hoarse. He didn’t even try and move, because he could feel every inch of where he’d been laid bare to bone. “Sam get drunk and smack you around?”
*g* Of course Dean would wake up and joke around. *hugs him*
“Sam,” Dean said softly, voice underscored with a growl of rage, “I love you. But when I get out of here, I’m going to fuck you up.”
Yeah, of course Dean would be pissed. Poor Sam was in such a tough spot with asking Charlie to find Dean.
“Please don’t be mad at Sam,” she said. “Please. I knew I could find you. Me and Sam, we need you more than anybody, ever.”
Such a good girl. *pets her*
“I’m sorry,” Sam whispered. “Dean - “
“Dean’s not here right now,” Dean said. “Please leave a message.”
*g*
“Til death do you part,” Sam said.
Dean gave him a sour glare. “Death doesn’t seem to do much for ending anything, if you haven’t noticed,” he said.
Sam laughed.
Great ending. It’s good to see Dean and Dani reunited. I didn’t know if you’d actually go there, but I’m glad you did, because as much as part of me thinks these boys can’t have a happy ending, I want them to have one, KWIM?
Thanks for a great read!
