I am going to be working like crazy on all the rest of those unfilled charity prompts that were requested three years ago. All I can do is apologize for the gross delay, and write. This is another one.

Title: Quartering the Odds
Series: Turn of the Wheel (AU)
Words: 3500
Rating: PG-13 (language, m/m sexual situations)

Sam and Dean weren’t able to repel the Watchtower guardian in Dodecagon, and the elementals have been running rampant. It’s no longer a human’s world, and the boys have to scrounge in ever stranger ways. The original prompt was from [livejournal.com profile] without_me for either more ToW-style wingfic, or, hooker fic. Being who I am, that means this became hooker wingfic.

It was not dirty pool to use your carefully learned survival skills on your little brother when it was actually a matter of survival.

And I'm not sure I realized you had posted Dodecal. So double win!!

How cool to AU your own work! Creative. A little dark, but hopeful in the end. Well done, hon!

AU on Turn of the Wheel! WHEEE!!!!!

This is interesting -- exploring both boys' pragmatism and where their lines are. Dean, more careless in giving of himself, threaded through with the idea of being wanted by someone. And Sam, his own pragmatism at war with his protectiveness towards Dean, but eventually that "whatever it takes" managing a breakthrough, until he gets a moment to catch his breath again and say No More.

I'm curious why Dean's such an anomaly, and yet it makes perfect sense without explanation -- he's Dean Freaking Winchester.

I'm also curious about Dean's feeling trapped and unable to stretch out and just BE. Nice juxtaposition to your original verse when it's Sam slipping out of his skin and needing something Dean to tether himself down. I wonder if that Watchtower still has a yen for Dean, or what kind of sacrifice it would take to fix THIS new mess and shut things back down. Or if it truly is Pandora's box -- can't undo what's gotten loose, just gotta keep the worst thing from escaping and do your best with the rest.

Most of all, though, MORE WINGFIC!!!! I love this verse so much, be it the original, or opening the door to this AU offshoot.

Oh, I loved this. I almost didn't read it when I saw it was partly hookerfic (I really dislike that trope) but since this was *you* I decided to go ahead anyway, and I'm glad I did. The state of the world in this piece is as tantalizing as Dean's wings, and provides very fertile ground for--one day, possibly?--more stories.

Oh, man. Dean's *amusement*, his goading...cruel, but so Dean. And Sam at the very fine edge of way too much, giving in....
*sniffle*

I love the new world in a horrified sort of way. AU of an AU, indeed! Creepy and scary and terrifying. Can't help wanting more of *both*. :)

Wow, what a lovely surprise, and a marvelous end to a great day! Off to read.

And even more marvelous after reading. Thank you so much!

(I actually did laugh out loud at “Next time, see if you can find a chick with a feather fetish,” Dean said breathlessly. “Whoo.")

Oh, dear. I've been away too long. You probably know I love TOtW beyond measure. Never expected to get this lovely bit of extra. AU of AU. Pretty damn awesome. There's something about pushy Dean with wings getting a kick out of pushing Sam's buttons that just...pushes my buttons. But he knows how far he can go and no further, and what's worth doing it for. And Sam's slow coming around to the idea was masterfully done.

Someday I'm going to find the time to read the entire series aloud, just for myself if for no one else. (Wouldn't post without asking, of course.) You wouldn't believe how often some or all of TOtW (or one of your other series or stand-alones) are the stories I am most in the mood to read again.

Anywho, thanks for this. Now there are a couple of others I haven't read yet that I need to get to...
